Islamabad (Daily Pakistan Online) The Supreme Court has asked NAB to account for the amounts recovered in various cases.
According to private TV Dawn News, a 3-member bench headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan held a hearing on Imran Khan’s petition against the NAB amendments in the Supreme Court. . To which province and how much money did NAB deposit to the federal government? The court also ordered to provide the details of the money returned to government institutions, banks and the public.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan said in his remarks that with the NAB amendments it is the responsibility of the NAB to prove the benami and the assets in excess of the income.
Justice Ejaz-ul-Ahsan said that a case is made to prove the payment record of the builder of benami properties. According to the NAB law, a benami owner can have husband or wife, relatives, employees, instead of expanding the scope of the law, the NAB amendments have limited Prosecution cannot prove benami properties until the aggrieved party gives evidence.
The lawyer said that the purpose of the amendment is that NAB should not take any action by charging anyone without reason, after the amendments, NAB will have to provide concrete evidence before charging anyone.
The NAB prosecutor took the position that the embezzled money is given to the institution to which it belongs after recovery. The Chief Justice of Pakistan remarked that NAB will submit all the details and then review them. The court adjourned the hearing till April 4.
