ISLAMABAD (Daily Pakistan Online) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has revealed that he was threatened with martial law in November last year just a week before the appointment of the country’s new army chief.

During an interview with Hamid Mir, the prime minister said “During the last week before the appointment of the new army chief, there was an occasion when I said martial law was going to be imposed.” Responding to the Prime Minister’s position on the occasion, Hamid Mir confirmed that he had been warned ‘directly’ about the possibility of martial law.

He said that the first meeting with the current Army Chief General Asim Munir was when Nawaz Sharif was the Prime Minister and I was the Chief Minister of Punjab. He told that there was a meeting in which then Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, Nawaz Sharif and I were present, General Asim Munir also participated in this meeting and maybe he was DGMI at that time.
