According to the private TV channel Hum News, a case was heard in the Supreme Court against sending Chief Secretary Punjab Kamran Afzal on forced leave. The petitioner’s lawyer said that the current Chief Secretary was sent on forced leave.
Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial said that the criminal justice system was being affected by the transfer of police officers, the appointment of the Chief Secretary and the IG is done by the federal government, the appointed officers are sometimes from the federal government, Justice Athar Manullah said that has to explain to what extent the court can interfere in administrative matters.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan directed the lawyer and said, “Don’t talk about someone’s personality, talk about the system. Name-calling creates friendships and enmities. The matter will be heard along with the police case. The court has forced Chief Secretary Punjab Kamran Afzal on leave.” The hearing of the case against sending was adjourned for 15 days.
