ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) approved seven-day physical remand of Rai Qamaruz Zaman on charges of threatening former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan.
Rai Qamar Zaman was arrested after a case was registered against him for threatening Imran Khan during a PML-N convention in Hafizabad. The police have also registered a case against more than 24 people, including Atta Tarar, former federal health minister Saira Afzal Tarar and Mohammad Bakhsh Tarar.
A hearing on the case registered against Zaman was held today and the court approved the physical remand for him for seven days. However, Atta Tarar, Saira Afzal and Bakhsh Tarar were granted interim bail till November 14.
Rai Qamar Zaman during his speech in Hafizabad threatened to kill Imran Khan in presence of PML-N leadership and maintained that he had no regrets about the removal of the former prime minister.
A case was registered against him under the Anti-Terrorism Act by PTI maintaining that Rai said that Imran Khan should be killed and he would kill him whenever his leadership will order him.
The FIR also said that Zaman said that he would like to hire a lawyer for the man who gun-attacked Imran Khan.
The local police also reportedly carried out raids to arrest the other suspects named in the FIR.
