Liverpool and Manchester United could go head-to-head to sign Joao Neves from Benfica at the end of the season, according to O Jogo.
The 19-year-old is regarded as one of the best young midfielders in European football and he has been touted to pursue a bigger challenge.
Neves has a release clause of €120m in his current deal, but this has not put off interested clubs from considering a summer approach.
The Reds are eyeing more midfield reinforcements and they are currently keeping a close watch on the performances of the wonderkid.
United are also firm admirers of the emerging talent and they have been collecting information on him right from the outset, as per O Jogo.
Aside from the Premier League duo, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen admirers of the highly-rated defensive midfielder.
Neves’ agent Jorge Mendes is already speaking with interested teams, but none of them have made contact with the Portuguese champions so far.
