Newly elected Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has assured price control for basic products during Ramazan, warning suppliers against hoarding.
While speaking at a press conference in Lahore, she added that her prime agenda is to give maximum relief to the people.
“In the rest of the world, people get relief during Ramazan. Here, it becomes unaffordable for the middle class,” she remarked.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has also unveiled a live dashboard to track the delivery of the Ramazan ‘Nigheban’ relief packages, she said.
She said that each package has its own QR code to be able to track it, noting that this is the first time there is “doorstep delivery” for the poor.
She also said a helpline has been setup to receive feedback on the relief packages.
Maryam Nawaz has announced six million Ramazan ‘Nigheban’ relief packages for the province, which will benefit approximately 35m people.
She said an exercise of this magnitude has never been done before, and praised her team for executing the campaign within a matter of days.
Maryam Nawaz said that her workers carried out a door-to-door campaign to collect data on the families, adding that packaging and deliveries of the packages are already underway through a pilot programme.
