Ka-52 “Alligator” is one of the most advanced pieces of military equipment in Russia, but it lacks adequate defenses compared to modern industrial standards. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also seem to have become proficient in hitting vulnerable spots of this aircraft.

The new video was posted on Twitter by Ukraine’s Defense Ministry. The tweet also wrote that Ka-52 was destroyed using an Igla homing missile (man-portable air defense system – MANPADS). After the hit, the Russian helicopter was able to remain in flight for a brief time but its flight systems eventually failed and it crashed to the ground.

The first units of Ka-52 were destroyed in Ukraine back in March and April of this year, soon after the Russian Federation started the invasion of Ukraine. According to statistics, at least 13 “Alligator” helicopters have been destroyed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but in reality, this number may be higher.
