Virtues and blessings of sending Darood and Salam (salutations and blessings) upon the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him)

Durood and Salam is one of the blessed blessings of Allah Ta’ala, who has immense bounties and blessings. It is such an eternal wealth that whoever gets it, will be succeed in his religion and world. Durood and Salam is the praise of the Beloved of God, the treasure of God’s mercy, the expiation of sins, the ladder of exaltation, the mirror of God’s nearness, the vessel of goodness and blessings.

It is the adornment of the assembly, the cure for the narrow hand, the action that leads to heaven, the purity of the heart, the antidote for the evils, the joy of the soul, the cure for spiritual problems, the solution to poverty and poverty, the means of salvation from hell and the key to intercession.

In the blessed hadiths, numerous virtues and blessings of salutations are mentioned, some of which are as follows:

1. Durood wa Salam is the source of closeness to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)

The devotion and love of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is a part of faith. Faith is not complete without it. Reciting blessings and salutations is proof of love for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

The one who recites Durood and Salam frequently will be blessed with the blessings of the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on the Day of Resurrection. Hazrat Abdullah bin Masoud (RA) said that the Holy Prophet (SAW) said:

أوْلَی النَّاسِ بِي يَومَ القَيَامَةَ أَکْثَرُهُمْ عَلَيَّ صَلَاةً.

Ttanslation: “On the Day of Judgment, the closest person to me will be the one who sends blessings on me frequently in this world.”

2. Blessings and salutations are the cause of spiritual and physical purity

Durood and Salaam is the pure act that cleanses the human body and mind from all kinds of impurities, densities and pollutions. It was narrated on the authority of Hazrat Abu Huraira RA that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

صلّوا عليّ فإنّ الصّلاة عليّ زکاةٌ لّکم.

Translation: Reciting your blessings for me. Undoubtedly, reciting (your) blessings on me is a cause of (spiritual and physical) purification for you.

3. Durood and Salam is the honor of visiting Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

The greatest virtue and characteristic of Salam is that the person who recites Durood and Salam frequently is blessed with the visitation of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in a dream or waking state. Visiting the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is a great blessing, which is not available to everyone, but only to a limited number of people.

It was narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (RA) that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said: A believer should pray two rak’ahs on Friday night in such a way that 25 times in each rak’ah. قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ Read after Surah Fatiha, then recite this Durood a thousand times اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّی عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ الْاُمِّي So he will visit me in his dream before the coming Friday. Whoever visits me, Allah will forgive his sins. (Al-Tabarani, Al-Mu’jam Al-Awsat, 6: 173, Number: 6111)

4. Darood and Salam are the cause of God’s mercy

The word of blessings and peace is the treasure of God’s mercy. Whoever recites blessings and peace with a sincere heart, Allah will shower His blessings on him. How great is the favor of Allah Ta’ala that if we praise His Beloved just a little, He enriches us with the treasure of His mercies.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Holy Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said:

مَنْ صَلَّی عَلَیَّ وَاحِدَةً، صَلَّی اﷲُ عَلَيْهِ عَشْرًا

( مسلم، الصحيح، کتاب الصلاة، باب الصّلوٰة علی النّبی صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم بعد التشھّد، 1 : 306، رقم : 408)

Translation: “Whoever blesses me once, Allah Almighty will bless him ten times.”

5. Durood and Salaam is a means of forgiveness of sins

Allah is very kind to His servants. His mercy keeps looking for excuses to forgive his servants. Sending blessings and peace upon the Beloved of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is also one of the excuses for forgiveness. Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

Translation: “When two servants who have love (for Allah Ta’ala) meet each other and send blessings upon the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), then all their previous sins are forgiven before they separate from each other.” ” (Abu Ya’li, Al-Masnad, 5: 304, Number: 2960)

6. Darood and Salam are the cure for the sorrows of the world

Hazrat Abi bin Ka’b, may God be pleased with him, says: I said: O Messenger of God! Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) I send blessings upon you abundantly. How much of my prayer should I set aside for blessings on you?

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: As much as you like. I said: A quarter? it is said by Hazrat Muhammad peace be upon him : OK, but if you add something else, it’s better.

I asked: What half of it? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: It is fine, but if you add something more, it is better.

I said: Two-thirds? He said: It is better if you increase it. I said: I will dedicate all my prayer (time) to bless you. it is said by Hazrat Muhammad peace be upon him :

إذا تُکْفی ھَمَّکَ، وَيُغْفَرُ لَکَ ذَنْبُکَ۔

Translation: “Then all your sorrows will be removed and every sin will be forgiven.”

7. Durood and Salam is the means of acceptance of dua

It was narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (RA) that I was praying and the Holy Prophet (SAW) was there with Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA) and Hazrat Umar (RA). When I sat down after praying, first I praised Allah, then I prayed for the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and then I prayed for myself, then the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

سَلْ تُعْطَهْ، سَلْ تُعْطَهْ۔

Translation: “Ask and you will be granted, ask and you will be granted.”

(Tirmidhi, Al-Jami’ al-Saheeh, Chapters of the Travels, Chapter Ma Dhikr in Al-Thanna’i on Allah and Salat on the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, 1:588, Number: 593)

8. Sending blessings of Allah upon the one who recites blessings on the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)

The blessing of reciting Durood and Salam is estimated from the fact that Allah, the Most High, sends blessings on the one who recites Durud. Hazrat Abdullah bin Auf (RA) narrates that the Holy Prophet (SAW) said: Gabriel (Gabriel) came to me and gave me the good news that your Lord says:

مَنْ صَلَّی عَلَيْکَ صَلَّيْتُ عَلَيْهِ، وَمَنْ سَلَّمَ عَلَيْکَ سَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ۔

( حاکم، المستدرک، 1 : 735، رقم : 2019)

Translation: “Whoever sends blessings on you, I send blessings on him and whoever sends greetings to you, I send greetings to him.”

9. Virtue of sending blessings on the Holy Prophet (PBUH) on Friday

The great virtue of the abundance of blessings and salutations on Friday and Friday night has been described. Many hadiths have been narrated from the Companions about reciting Durood and Salam during this day and night.

Hazrat Aus (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Friday is the best day of your days, it was the day Adam was born, and his soul was captured on it, and the trumpet will be thrown on it, and everyone will faint.” So, on this day send blessings on me abundantly, because your blessings are offered to me.

People begged: O Messenger of Allah! At that time, how will our salutations be presented when you have passed away? That is, they must have been buried (in the soil). He said: Verily, Allah has forbidden the bodies of the Prophets on earth.
