IG Punjab issues stern orders on sale of illegal arms
Lahore (Daily Pakistan Online): IG Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said that in case of illegal arms trade within the police station, a response will be sought from the concerned SHO and also from the supervisory officer.
Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has directed to crack down on dealers involved in the manufacture and sale of illegal arms across the province. The IG Punjab has directed all the supervisory officers of the province to bring to book all the accused and dealers dealing in illegal and illicit arms in all the districts of the province. At the same time, strict legal action should be taken against them.
The IG Punjab said that the supervisory officers should ensure regular inspection of stock and license check of arms dealers in their districts and no concession should be made in action against arms dealers possessing prohibited bore weapons in excess of stock. Special crackdown should be carried out in other major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad and Gujranwala. In case of use of licensed firearms in criminal activities, close coordination should be maintained with the concerned agencies and all possible steps should be taken to take stern action against such owners with revocation of license.
