LBA election: Rao Sami elected President of Lahore Bar Association with a lead of 2161 votes

Lahore: Elections was held today for the Lahore Bar Association, the largest bar in Asia. Thirty-six candidates were vying for eight Lahore Bar cabinet seats. Rao Sami of Professional Group and Farhad Ali Shah of Asma Jahangir Group competed for the President’s seat. Rao Sami had the support of the largest faction of the PTI lawyers’ wing. While Farhad Ali Shah had the support of lawyers of other opposition parties including PML-N.

Rao Sami of Professional Group got 4431 votes while Farhad Ali Shah of Asma Jahangir Group got 2270 votes. Thus Rao Sami was elected President of Lahore Bar Association with a big lead of 2161 votes.

The results of the remaining seats of the Lahore Bar Association were as follows:
From Model Town, Chaudhry Azmat Zia Sadhu won the Vice President’s seat with 3262 votes while his opponent Hadi Hussain Bhatti got 3154 votes.

Shafqat Amin Sadhu got 3104 votes and won the Cantt seat with while his rival Muhammad Farrukh Khan got 3093 votes. Thus Muhammad Farrukh Khan lost the Cantt seat by only eleven votes.

Khurram Mir has elected Senior Vice President of Lahore Bar Association with 2179 votes and Ehsan Nawab elected Vice President with 1777 votes.

Ammar Yasir has elected General Secretary of Lahore Bar Association with 1557 votes and Shakir Ali Chahal elected Secretary with 1366 votes.

Malik Jawad Awan has elected Finance Secretary with 2949 votes, Zaman Jaffar Dogar has elected Joint Secretary with 2285 votes and Sufi Atiq A Khan has elected Library Secretary with 4645 votes.
