ISLAMABAD (Daily Pakistan Online): Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen has promised to reduce the prices of ghee and oil below Rs 300, saying that concrete steps are being taken under the leadership of the Prime Minister to control inflation. Will arrive
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen said that the biggest problems in the country are inflation and rising petrol prices. Pakistan ranks 17th in the region in terms of petrol prices. Levy on petrol before 2018 The tax was collected at Rs 25 but in our government this tax is being collected at Rs 2.5 to Rs 2.5 which is a clear step of the Prime Minister to provide relief to the people. The Prime Minister said that we will not burden the people.
Talking about inflation, Shaukat Tareen said that people say that inflation has gone up, it has gone up all over the world due to Corona, it is also in the United States. We are also affected by it. In the last 20 years, the agriculture sector has been suffering from the worst shortcomings. We are importing wheat, pulses, tea, pulses. If we produce all this here, the graph of inflation will go down. Maybe, our government is taking practical steps for this, we are investing in the agriculture sector to increase production.
The Minister of Finance said that the price of wheat is Rs. 2,040 per quintal which we have fixed at Rs. 1,950. They will give food subsidy for flour, ghee, sugar and pulses.
The Finance Minister said that we are seeing that the middle man is making a lot of profit, we are also seeing a lot of shortcomings in the administration, at one time there were price magistrates, now DCs and commissioners are working but they do not pay attention to this level. The price magistrate’s system will be restored, as the shopkeepers do as they please. From the farmer to the middle man, he delivers up to four to five hundred percent profit to the people. The Federal Branch and Revenue (FBR) collected more than the target in the first quarter of 2021-22, which is a testament to the fact that Pakistan’s economy is growing, the public will benefit from the FBR’s tax recovery. We are bringing a successful Pakistan program in a few days. The reason for the delay in this program is the IMF and the World Bank. It took us a while to convince them that this is a public interest program. Rs. 1 lakh will be given, Rs. 2 lakh will be given to the farmers every year for repair of machinery and other items. In urban areas, each family will be given Rs. 500,000 for business. These interest free loans will be given to citizens and farmers.
The Finance Minister said that loans will be given to the people at 2% markup for houses which can be from Rs. 15 to 20 lakhs. Like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, health cards will be given to every household in Pakistan. Training is a reasonable way for people to start their own businesses and stand on their own two feet. Money given under the Ehsas program is not a permanent solution. We will not give fish to the people but we will teach them to catch fish. Our lower class is self-sufficient. If they get a chance, they will run their own business. The Prime Minister wants to make Madinah a state.
