ISLAMABAD (Daily Pakistan Online): Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has said that NAB believes in 100% development in the country and values and respects the role of business community in the country’s development. Yes, NAB has also set up a special desk under the supervision of the Director and Deputy Director at NAB Headquarters Islamabad to address the grievances of the business community.
According to details, Chairman NAB Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal directed the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce Karachi (FPCCI), Lahore Chamber of Commerce, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce, Flour Mills Association, Cotton Ginners Association and Gwadar Chamber. In various meetings with the delegations of Commerce and Industries, he said that NAB has referred cases of income tax, sales tax and under-invoicing to the FBR as per law. Committed to eliminating incidents, assets in excess of sources of income, illegal housing societies and Mudaraba scandals.
He said that NAB has no affiliation with any individual, party or organization, NAB officials are working with full energy to eradicate corruption from the country and NAB considers it its national duty, illegal housing societies across the country did not hand over plots to the victims. Nor did they return the money earned from their hard work. Poor investors are being pushed here and there to get their money back. It has recovered billions of rupees from illegal housing societies in the areas and returned them to the victims of housing societies.
The Chairman NAB said that at present 1278 NAB references are being heard in various accountability courts across the country, valued at Rs 1305 billion. The present management of NAB has directly and indirectly recovered Rs 539 billion which is a record achievement. Since its inception, NAB has received Rs 819 billion. Leading national and international organizations such as Transparency International Pakistan, World Economic Forum, Global Peace Canada, PLDAT and Mashal Pakistan have praised NAB’s performance, while Gilani and Gallup polls 59% of people have expressed confidence in NAB.
Leaders of the business community took personal interest and appreciated the efforts of the Chairman NAB to solve their problems in a timely manner.
