Tim Al Falasi, 29, one of the leading social media influencers in the UAE now, has always known what she wanted to do later in life. She did not know that this would help her earn millions of dirhams.

Tim, whose full name is Fatim, says she still doesn’t understand the meaning of pandemonium when it comes to social media. However, she knows she was born for her. And she loves doing what she does on social media.

This explains why Tim Al Falasi is one of the biggest social media influencers in the UAE today. After five minutes of chatting with her, you can see the real person with dreams, goals and maturity; Someone who understands that social media is actually serious business.

“I am a city girl,” Al Falasi said. “I love people and I love being around them.”

I know her call

She said that working in the media has always been a “thing” for her.

“I remember when I was eight years old, I was standing in front of a mirror pretending to hold a paper in my hand. I imagined I was standing in front of hundreds of thousands of people, setting up an event. That was the dream I had until then,” she said.

Al Falasi said that her mother, Zainab, was early on getting her daughter’s attention.

“One day she came to me with a newspaper. There was an advertisement in the newspaper for a young presenter. She wanted me to test it. I was only eight years old. She handed the paper to me and said I should go and convince my father to do so. She said she would cover my back, if my father got angry. So I summoned Courage and went to my father.”

However, her father Bakhit Al Falasi was not as encouraging as her mother.

“He threw the paper on the floor. He was so upset that I got close to him because of it. The girls said they shouldn’t be the little ones in front of the camera or on the TV. I immediately looked back to see if my mother was still there covering my back. But she was gone!” Mazeh Al Falasi.

Tim Show starts

But 10 years later, everything has changed for the better.

“Life changed quickly. I grew up and started to see what I wanted to do in life. For example, I decided I wanted to study media. So, without even asking my parents, I enrolled in a media course.”

In 2012, Al Falasi graduated from Zayed University and immediately launched her own digital magazine, Ulumagazine Magazine.

“It was on the Internet and there was a print version too,” she said.

Then in 2013 she launched her own program on the radio, titled “On Air with Tim”.

The show name was later changed to “Taim show”.

“The show did two seasons and one of them was also sponsored. It was a huge success,” Al Falasi said.

“We had 40,000 plays per episode.”

Get ready for YouTube

Then came a special moment. I’ve been working behind the scenes a lot. So I told myself it was time to be in front of the camera. YouTube was there and I thought I should try to do something there. But I wasn’t sure I was in front of the camera. My weight was 113 kg and I really wanted to lose some weight before I could stand in front of the camera.”

“Although I don’t think one has to be at their best to be successful on social media, I personally wanted to shed some weight. So I had a gastric sleeve operation and ended up losing 35 kg. I told myself I was YouTube ready” .

Her first video

“It was about my going to Mall of the Emirates. It was a great post until then no girl had taken the camera to a mall and recorded herself visiting the stores. It was something very simple, but very unique.”

Her father was not aware of her first YouTube blog.

The simple and unique video was a huge hit.

But Al Falasi did not make everyone admire this first post of hers.

“My mom’s friends and aunts thought it was too absurd to post something as mundane as going to the mall,” she recalls.

But I ignored their notes. My mother was by my side and said I should never stop doing what I started. So I kept blogging and creating content my way,” Tim said.

On my YouTube channel, I used to upload content three days a week. But people wanted to see me every day. They wanted to tell stories about me every day. Naturally, Instagram was the way to go. Snapchat wasn’t available at the time so I started posting on Instagram

Reaches millions of hearts

Tim started experimenting with her blogs. I started doing food and travel blogs. They have become massive hits. Her life, as she was known until then, was forever changing.

“People started recognizing me on the streets. All I was doing was simple things,” Tim Al Falasi said.

Soon she was attending events, visiting new restaurants, trying new cuisines, and posting on social media.

Her social media presence started spreading from YouTube to other platforms.

Instagram and Snapchat have become my things. I am so grateful for these two platforms that they put me there. I realized that getting into these platforms was a natural progression. On my YouTube channel, I used to upload content three days a week. But people wanted to see me every day. They wanted to tell stories about me every day. Naturally, Instagram was the way to go. Snapchat wasn’t available at the time, so she started posting on Instagram, “Taim remembered her path to stardom on social media.

In addition to daily blogs, her travel and food blogs have also been a huge hit with the audience.

“People followed me everywhere and that was a blessing,” she added.

Today, Tim Al Falasi has 3.2 million followers on Instagram. Thanks to that massive following and the sponsorship that followed, she’s a social media influencer millionaire.

She has a Snapchat following of around 829,000 while there are 589,000 subscribers for her YouTube channel.

“I could be a millionaire but I spend a lot,” gushes Tim.

Knowing its worth

I didn’t know that being on social media could make me some money until my third or fourth position. I went to a restaurant. It was for food review. I overeat and left. I posted my review. Three days later I received an email from the owner of the restaurant. He said what did you do? There is a waiting list for my restaurant! ”

Up until that point, she swore, she was unaware of the impact it had on her viewers.

At that time the concept of an influencer did not exist. Influencing people was not part of the culture. But here I was doing it and didn’t realize it. A friend of mine then suggested we sit down and see how we can make a profit from this,” Tim tells how she got to the top of the crop.

earn millions

Then she signed a contract with Etisalat, which is one of the biggest contracts in her life. She became the company’s brand ambassador.

“There were other ambassadors who were chosen as well,” she adds.

She said that the first thing she did after winning this contract was to buy a bracelet from Van Cleef & Arpels.

And that was just the beginning.

Today, she owns eight restaurants in the UAE, thanks to the money she earned as a social media influencer. She drives a Mercedes GX460, owns an apartment in City Walk and has invested in other real estate projects.

I also spent a lot on friends and family. “I love to gift my loved ones. So, if you ask me where to spend the money I make, very little will be given as gifts. It is my great pleasure to give gifts to my loved ones.”

Who can be an influencer on social media?

“Anyone who is determined, confident, and consistent with their blogs and posts can be a social media influencer. It is all about how well one can harness the power of social media. You can literally do anything – like sell that box of tissues. Consistency is key,” she says. Says.

Personally, I am not a static person. I get bored of things. This is what happened to me with YouTube. The last video I uploaded was a year ago. People want consistency. They want to like and comment on things regularly. Constant posts will make you a blogger. Being an influencer is the next level.”

about family

Tim is one of 13 children. Her father Bakheet served in the UAE army. Her mother, Zainab, worked as a journalist before her marriage.

“So I get my media attention from her. We are all six kids from my mother. I’m the third. Salem is my older brother, and then there’s Rashid who is a famous comedian. In real life, he’s not very cool,” Tim said sarcastically.

“The third in the class is me. I have three younger siblings. There is Hamda who graduated from the American University of Sharjah (AUS) and came in third in physics. Hessa is studying chemistry and the youngest is Zayed who has achieved great success as a child through my blogs.”

What next Tim?

“Being more creative. I’m grateful for all the love I’ve received from people. It’s a blessing. I want to always make them happy,” says Tim.

This is really great news for the army of Tim Al Falasi’s followers.
