Dharki train accident: 9 officers and employees suspended, notification issued

Railway authorities have suspended nine officers and employees responsible for the Daharki train accident.

According to the notification issued in this regard, Karachi Deputy DS Shaukat Sheikh, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman and Masroor Anwar have been suspended.

Similarly, the suspended officers include six officers of Lahore Railway Department and Sukkur.

They include Mohammad Imran DME to Lahore, Ghulam Qadir Lakho of Sukkur Railway, Nihal Khan, Abdul Aziz and Qazi Shamsuddin of Mirpur Mathelo Railway along with Railway Officer Ibtisam Al Hassan.

On the other hand, according to MS Dr Agha Tawheed Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahim Yar Khan, only 13 injured in the Daharki train accident are undergoing treatment, out of which 6 are in critical condition and all the bodies have been handed over to heirs.

The body of another person killed in Daharki train accident has been shifted to Lodhran. The death toll in the train accident in Lodhran has risen to 20.

Commissioner Shafiq Mahesar said that 66 people were killed in the train accident.
