ECP has initiated the release of a leaked video case of Ali Haider Gilani
The Elections Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is hearing a case related to a leaked video clip showing the son of former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani Ali Haider Gilani alleging that he is advising MNA on how to lose his vote in the Senate election.
The video appeared last week, the day before the Senate elections on March 3, showing Gilani advising MNA on how his vote could be wasted if he didn’t want to vote for the government candidate.
The ECP had previously announced that it would hold a hearing on the issue of the leaked video of the son of former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Ali Gilani on Thursday’s Senate elections. However, earlier today, PTI filed another petition in ECP urging it not to issue notification regarding Yusuf Raza Gilani’s victory in the Senate elections.
PTI lawmakers Malika Buhari and Farroukh Habib have filed a petition at the Election Commission seeking an urgent hearing to PTI’s appeal on the matter. Former Prime Minister Gilani was elected to a general seat from Islamabad in the recent Senate elections.
“The matter is of utmost importance, as a senator elected with corrupt practices is now looking forward to becoming president of the Senate,” the petition said.
The request stated: “The election of Youssef Raza Gilani was a rare event in national political history.” “We hope that the Election Commission will hear the matter urgently, as it has heard the case related to the by-elections in the NA-75 in Daska,” the petition stated.
