Emirati Tawazun and Yahsat to establish a satellite technology company

Dubai: The UAE Economic Tawazun Council and Yahsat Satellite Company are establishing a new company to develop “critical capabilities within the country” for advanced satellite communications.

The entity will develop capabilities in three primary streams – aviation satellite technology, satellite modem and enabling other satellite products. The first project entails developing a multi-platform modem via satellite for the government and defense sectors in the UAE and internationally.

“These partnerships are vital to diversifying the UAE’s economy, and we are committed to supporting our investment portfolio companies in the UAE as they contribute to the sustainable growth of our nation,” said Musabeh Al Kaabi, Yahsat Chairman.

Yahsat will ensure that the company’s new devices meet the requirements of government customers through a differentiated and targeted product strategy.
